Town power station (Ljubljana)

The Town power station, inaugurated on January 1, 1898, in Ljubljana, Slovenia, originally served as the city's power plant. Despite early struggles with high electricity costs, it became vital for the tram service in 1901. The station operated through the World Wars until the 1960s, after which it was abandoned. In the 1980s and 1990s, it was revitalized by alternative artists and transformed into Stara elektrarna, a cultural hub that retains its historical architecture while hosting a theatre hall and various artistic festivals. Today, it serves as a venue for cultural events and houses a museum of electricity, making it an interesting site for both tourists and researchers.
