Gas Works Park industrial ruins

Gas Works Park occupies the site of the former Seattle Gas Light Company coal gasification plant on the north shore of Lake Union; many of the plant's structures were preserved as part of the park's design. The park opened in 1975 and is managed by Seattle Parks and Recreation; its industrial silhouettes against the skyline are frequently used in photographs and internet posts. The park is also used for public events, kite flying, and recreation along the lakefront.
