Petrobras Headquarters

The Petrobras Headquarters, known as Edise, is a striking brutalist office building located in the Centro neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Standing at 108 meters tall with 29 stories, it was designed by architect Roberto Luís Gandolfi and constructed between 1967 and 1972. This architectural landmark features a unique façade that enhances the interaction between indoor and outdoor spaces, making it a symbol of Petrobras and a notable part of the city's skyline. Situated next to the Metropolitan Cathedral, which was inaugurated shortly after the building's completion, Edise has become a significant point of interest in downtown Rio. In 2021, the building underwent its first major revitalization in nearly 50 years, incorporating sustainability measures and restoring the original gardens designed by Roberto Burle Marx.
