Carnegie Library at Mount Vernon Square

The Carnegie Library at 801 K Street NW opened in 1903 as Washington, D.C.'s central public library funded by Andrew Carnegie. After decades of library use it later housed the Historical Society of Washington, D.C., and underwent a major renovation. In 2019 the building reopened following restoration as a mixed public space that includes an Apple store and program areas for community and cultural events.
