Oakwood Cemetery (Austin's oldest public cemetery)

Oakwood Cemetery is Austin's oldest public cemetery, established in 1839. It contains numerous 19th-century gravestones and funerary monuments associated with early Austin residents. The cemetery is located just east of downtown Austin and has been preserved as a historic site that remains open to the public.
