Coomanshof

Coomanshof is a historic former hofje located in Haarlem, Netherlands, originally established around a guild house from 1644 associated with the local merchant's guild. This charming site, named after the guild, reflects the typical architecture of occupational hofjes. After the guilds were disbanded in the late 18th century, the property changed hands multiple times, with notable figures like Adriaan Justus Enschedé preserving the guild house as a garden folly. In the mid-20th century, it became a creative hub for artists, including Godfried Bomans and Anton Heyboer, who transformed it into a vibrant meeting place. Today, Coomanshof serves as an artist's workshop, accessible through a children's playground, making it a unique spot for visitors interested in art and history.
