Red Brick Store

The Red Brick Store in Nauvoo, Illinois, was built in 1841 by Joseph Smith, the founder of the Latter Day Saint movement. This historic building served as a hub for economic, political, religious, and social activities among the Latter Day Saints. It housed a mercantile store and was the church's headquarters for a time. Notable events include the initiation of Joseph Smith as a Mason and the founding of the Female Relief Society. After falling into disrepair following Smith's death, the store was reconstructed in 1980 and is now operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in early American religious history.
