New York Life Insurance Building (Chicago)

The New York Life Insurance Building, located at 39 South LaSalle Street in Chicago's Loop neighborhood, is a historic 14-story structure designed by architect William Le Baron Jenney. Originally completed in 1894, the building underwent significant expansions in the late 1890s and early 1900s, enhancing its height and facade. Notable for its classical architectural style, the building features a lobby adorned with Georgia gray marble and vintage deco light fixtures. Declared a Chicago landmark in 2006, it was transformed into The Kimpton Gray Hotel in 2016, offering visitors a unique blend of history and modern hospitality, complete with a rooftop restaurant and retail space.
