Scethrog Tower

Scethrog Tower is a historic 14th-century tower house located in the picturesque Usk valley of Powys, Wales. Originally part of a larger Elizabethan manor, it features significant alterations from the 16th and 18th centuries. The tower is set on an artificial mound with a water feature nearby, adding to its charm. In the late 20th century, it served as the country home of musician and critic George Melly, who contributed to the Brecon Jazz Festival and enjoyed fly fishing in the nearby River Usk. The tower is a Grade I listed building and is one of only two such tower houses in Powys, making it a notable site for both tourists and researchers interested in Welsh history and architecture.
