Seneca Williams Mill

Seneca Williams Mill, located just outside Maquoketa, Iowa, is a historic 2½-story stone building originally built in 1867 by Joseph Willey. Known for its water-powered turbine, the mill played a significant role in the local economy until its closure in 1904. The structure, which has been repurposed over the years, was converted into a barn in 1920 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It served as a residence and studio for wildlife artist Patrick J. Costello from 1979 to 2006, and is now operated as a reception hall by his daughter. Visitors can explore the remnants of the mill's history and enjoy the scenic surroundings.
