Julia Ideson Building (Houston Public Library)

The Julia Ideson Building is a Spanish Renaissance–style library building completed in 1926 and named for Houston's first head librarian, Julia Ideson. Located downtown, the building formerly served as the city's main library and today houses special collections, archives, and the Houston Metropolitan Research Center. The building is a noted example of early 20th-century civic architecture in Houston.
