Mathews–Powell House

The Mathews–Powell House is a charming Victorian residence located in Queen City, Texas, recognized as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark since 1973 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. Built in 2025 by Confederate veteran William Franklin Mathews and his wife Harriet, the house reflects the rich history of the area, having been owned by various families before being acquired by merchant Ross A. Powell in 1918. After serving as a family home for over seventy years, it now operates as the Antique Rose Bed & Breakfast, offering visitors a unique glimpse into Texas history and hospitality.
