Oxon Hill Manor

Oxon Hill Manor is a historic neo-Georgian house located in Prince George's County, Maryland, designed in 1928 by architect Jules Henri de Sibour. Built in 1929, the manor features 49 rooms, formal gardens, and several outbuildings, including a garage and stable. The property has deep historical roots, originally home to the colonial-era Addison family and later associated with John Hanson, a Founding Father. After a fire destroyed the original mansion in 1895, Sumner Welles, a U.S. Undersecretary of State, constructed the current manor. The estate has hosted notable guests such as Franklin D. Roosevelt and possibly Winston Churchill. Today, it is managed by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission and is open to the public, having undergone restoration in the early 1980s. Oxon Hill Manor was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
