Skinny House (Long Beach)

The Skinny House, located at 708 Gladys Avenue in Long Beach, California, is renowned for being the nation's skinniest house, measuring just 10 feet by 50 feet. Built in 1932 by Newton P. Rummonds, it was constructed on a lot he received as repayment for a loan after a bet that he couldn't build a habitable home on such a small space. This unique three-story yellow-stuccoed house, which has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records and Ripley's Believe It or Not, is a registered city landmark since 1983. The house has an intriguing history, including a notable leaning issue that was corrected in 1959, and it served as the law office for public interest lawyer William John Cox during the late 1970s.
