The Broken Spoke (1964 dance hall)

The Broken Spoke opened in 1964 on South Lamar Boulevard and is one of Austin's longest-running country dance halls and honky-tonks. The venue has retained its mid-20th-century dance hall layout and wooden dance floor while hosting generations of country and roots musicians; it is widely cited as a key surviving example of Austin's mid-century live-music and dancehall infrastructure. The club remains in operation at its original South Lamar location.
