National Museum of Women in the Arts

The National Museum of Women in the Arts, founded in 1987, is the first major museum in the world dedicated exclusively to women artists. Housed at 1250 New York Avenue NW, the museum's collection includes more than 5,000 works spanning the 16th century to the present. The museum presents rotating exhibitions, educational programs, and research focused on women’s contributions to the visual arts. The historic building was rehabilitated to serve as a museum and public cultural space.
