Cherry Lane Theatre

Founded in 1924, Cherry Lane Theatre in Greenwich Village is New York City's longest continuously operating off-Broadway theatre. The theatre has premiered or early-produced notable works by playwrights such as Sam Shepard and Edward Albee and has long been a venue for experimental and new play development. Its home at 38 Commerce Street anchors a historic block of low-rise buildings in the Village and the theatre continues to present plays and community programs.
