Porto Bello (Williamsburg, Virginia)

Porto Bello, a historic hunting lodge located in York County, Virginia, was the retreat of John Murray, the last Royal Governor of the British Colony of Virginia. Named after a British naval victory in Panama, it served as a refuge for Lord Dunmore during the early American Revolution. Although the lodge is closed to the public due to its location within Camp Peary, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The property features a two-story brick farmhouse and several outbuildings, reflecting its use as a hunting lodge rather than a permanent residence.
