Medical Arts Building (Reading, Pennsylvania)

The Medical Arts Building, located at 230 North Fifth Street in Reading, Pennsylvania, is a historic 10-story structure designed by Frederick A. Muhlenberg and completed in 1930. Built during the Great Depression at a cost of approximately $500,000, it provided jobs and featured 55 offices, a pharmacy, and a coffee shop. Notably, it was the first building in Reading to include a penthouse, which served as a clubhouse for tenants. The building also innovatively placed restrooms on each floor, enhancing convenience. Today, the Medical Arts Building remains occupied and continues to serve the community.
