Idle Hours

Idle Hours is a historic house in Texas, built in 1903 by architect Frank T. Smith for L.P. Ogden and his wife Cynthia. Originally considered a country estate, it was named 'Idle Hours' as Mrs. Ogden preferred to keep her town home. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 and has been owned by several prominent families in Beaumont. In 1970, it was transformed into a halfway house by a non-profit organization, and in 2002, it became a private residence for the Bienvenu family, who are currently restoring the property, including its carriage house and servant's quarters.
