Memphis College of Art closure and collection transfer

Memphis College of Art, originally founded as the Memphis Academy of Art, closed permanently in 2020 after sustained financial challenges and falling enrollment. Following the closure, the college transferred significant portions of its permanent collection and archival materials to regional institutions, including the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. The college's on-campus galleries had previously hosted student exhibitions, visiting-artist shows, and community arts events.
