Giragama Walawwa

Giragama Walawwa is a historic building located in Kandy, Sri Lanka, originally constructed in 1814. It is recognized as the oldest walawwa in the region and was once the residence of Diyawadana Nilame Kudamudiyanse Giragama. The building features a unique wooden tower, believed to have served as a watch or security tower, distinguishing it from other walawwas in the country. Officially designated as an archaeological protected monument, it underwent restoration between 2014 and 2015, enhancing its historical significance and making it a noteworthy site for tourists and researchers interested in Sri Lankan architecture and heritage.
