Lewisfield Plantation

Lewisfield Plantation is a historic plantation house located near Moncks Corner, South Carolina, built around 1774. This 2 1/2-story clapboard dwelling features a striking five-bay verandah supported by slender Doric columns and is set on a high brick foundation. The plantation, originally known as Little Landing, was purchased by Sedgewick Lewis in 1767 and later became a notable site during the Revolutionary War. It was the backdrop for a skirmish involving Colonel Wade Hampton and British forces. The estate has changed hands several times, with significant renovations currently underway to preserve its historical significance. Lewisfield Plantation is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and offers a glimpse into the region's rich history, including its ties to slavery and the American Revolution.
