Rothko Chapel

The Rothko Chapel, at the intersection of art and spirituality, houses 14 large abstract canvases by Mark Rothko and was dedicated in 1971 as a non-denominational chapel and public space. It was founded by John and Dominique de Menil and operates as an independent foundation that hosts exhibitions, concerts, and public programs. The chapel's Rothko paintings are regarded as a major example of his late work and the building is a prominent contemplative art site in Houston.
