Our Lady's Priory, Aarhus

Our Lady's Priory, located just outside the original walls of Aarhus, Denmark, is an early Dominican foundation believed to have been established between 1221 and 1246. The site features the Church of Our Lady, which has a rich history dating back to 1080 and includes the oldest surviving stone church in Scandinavia. Following the Reformation in 1536, the priory was repurposed into a hospital and poor house, a tradition of caring for the vulnerable that continues today. Visitors can explore the restored church and its medieval artifacts, including a notable crucifix from the 1400s.
