Hotel de México

The Hotel de México was an ambitious project initiated in 1966 by entrepreneur Manuel Suárez y Suárez, intended to be the largest hotel in the Americas, standing 237 meters tall with 1,500 rooms. Designed by architect Guillermo Rossell de la Lama, it aimed to be a major business and tourist complex in Mexico City, featuring a panoramic elevator, multiple restaurants and bars, a convention center, and even a heliport. However, due to financial difficulties and mismanagement, the project was never completed and remained an unfinished structure for years after Suárez's death in 1987. Eventually, it was repurposed into the World Trade Center Mexico City, which opened in 1995, transforming the site into a bustling office and commercial space, showcasing the evolution of urban development in Mexico City.
