Texas State Cemetery

The Texas State Cemetery is the official burial ground for notable Texans and contains the graves and memorials of figures such as U.S. Representative Barbara Jordan, Governor Dolph Briscoe, and other state leaders and veterans. The cemetery includes marked historic plots and interpretive signage documenting Texas history and remembrance practices. It is a managed historic site that is less visited than many downtown attractions, tucked into east Austin near the state complex.
