The Homeplace

The Homeplace is a historic house and farm complex located in Madison, Virginia, dating back to around 1830. This charming gable-roofed hall-and-parlor building features a stone basement and was significantly expanded in 1875 with a two-story wing. Visitors can explore various structures on the property, including a barn, well house, greenhouse, bunkhouse for farm workers, meathouse, and a former furniture factory operated by the Clore family. The Homeplace was recognized for its historical significance and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, making it a fascinating destination for tourists and researchers alike.
