Dumbarton Oaks (Georgetown)

Dumbarton Oaks is a historic estate and research institute in Georgetown whose gardens were designed by landscape architect Beatrix Farrand. In 1944 the estate hosted the Dumbarton Oaks Conference, where representatives from the United States, United Kingdom, Soviet Union, and China met and discussed proposals that contributed to the founding of the United Nations. The property is owned by Harvard University and operates as a museum, research library, and public garden.
