Winterbotham Estate

The Winterbotham Estate, located at 163 South Willard Street in Burlington, Vermont, is a historic property developed around 1820, showcasing Federal period architecture with later additions. This picturesque estate spans 3.6 acres and features a main house, a carriage barn, and a law office, all set in beautifully landscaped grounds. The main house is notable for its octagonal cupola and Greek Revival portico. Originally built by merchant Jonathon Potwin, the estate has a rich history, including ownership by an attorney who made significant alterations and later by Joseph Winterbotham, who bequeathed it to the University of Vermont. Today, it serves as Skiff Hall, housing administrative offices for Champlain College, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers alike.
