Charles Franks House

The Charles Franks House, built around 1850, is a historic site located east of Lanark, Illinois. Once the home of prominent settler Charles Franks, this house stands on land that previously hosted a tavern and stagecoach stop, which played a significant role during the Black Hawk War. Its vernacular Federal style features a hipped roof and jack arch lintels, though it is smaller and less ornate than typical examples of the style.
