Academy of Music (Philadelphia)

The Academy of Music opened in 1857 and is commonly described as the oldest continuously operating opera house in the United States. It has served as a major performance venue in Philadelphia for opera, ballet, and orchestra concerts for more than a century. The Philadelphia Orchestra regularly performed at the Academy of Music until relocating performances to the Kimmel Center in the early 21st century.
