Mayhurst is a historic Italianate mansion located in Orange, Virginia, built in 1859 by Colonel John Willis, a relative of President James Madison. This grand estate, originally known as Howard Place, spans 2,500 acres and played a significant role during the Civil War, serving as the headquarters for Lieutenant General A. P. Hill. The mansion features distinctive architectural elements, including a two-story frame structure with a hipped roof, elaborate wooden siding, and a striking central belvedere.
