Site of the San Diego Presidio (Junípero Serra Museum)

The Junípero Serra Museum sits on Presidio Hill, the location of the 1769 Spanish presidio that marked the founding of San Diego. Archaeological excavations in Presidio Park have uncovered adobe and stone foundation remains and numerous artifacts from the Spanish, Mexican, and early American periods. The museum interprets those excavated ruins and the early colonial settlement history.
