Stanford Fire Truck House

The Stanford Fire Truck House, constructed in 1904 by Charles Hodges, served as the university's firehouse until the 1970s. It was uniquely staffed by both students and professional firefighters, providing students with room, board, and a stipend, some of whom went on to notable firefighting careers. Today, the historic building is repurposed to support student organizations, including the Women's Community Center, which fosters leadership and activism among Stanford women, and the LGBT-CRC, which promotes diversity and offers mentoring for LGBTQ+ students.
