Fraunces Tavern and its ghost stories

Fraunces Tavern, at 54 Pearl Street, is a preserved 18th-century building where George Washington delivered his 1783 farewell to the Continental Army and today houses a museum and restaurant. Over many decades staff and visitors have reported anecdotal accounts of unexplained noises and apparitions tied to the building's Revolutionary-era history; those accounts are anecdotal and not scientifically substantiated.
