Eco-Nelson

Eco-Nelson is a unique Antarctic research station located on Nelson Island in the South Shetland Islands, founded in 1988 by Czech explorer Jaroslav Pavlíček. It was the only private station in Antarctica for 30 years before being donated to the Czech Antarctic Foundation in 2017. Operated by Masaryk University, the station serves as a base for scientific research, including climate studies and ornithology. Visitors can stay at the station, but must participate in research activities and complete a survival course.
