Austin House (Guyana)

Austin House, also known as Bishop’s Court, is the official residence of the Anglican Bishop of Guyana located in Georgetown. Originally built in 1842 as Kingston House, it was renamed in 1892 to honor William Piercy Austin, the first Anglican bishop of the region. The current wooden structure, completed in 1894, features distinctive steep roofs and Demerara windows, with notable stained glass installations added in 1950. The house underwent restoration in 2012 and is part of an effort to nominate Georgetown as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, highlighting its historical significance.
