Dar al-Makina

Dar al-Makina is a historic building located in Fes, Morocco, originally established as an arms factory by Sultan Moulay Hassan in 1885-86. This site represents an early attempt at industrialization in Morocco, aimed at modernizing the army to compete with European powers. Although now abandoned and partially in ruins, it features impressive Italianate architecture and a series of vaulted chambers reminiscent of the royal granaries in Meknes.
