Schifferstadt (Frederick, Maryland)

Schifferstadt, also known as Scheifferstadt, is the oldest standing house in Frederick, Maryland, built in 1758 and recognized as a prime example of German-Georgian colonial architecture. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 2016, it serves as a local history and architectural museum operated by the Frederick County Landmarks Foundation. Visitors can explore this historic site on weekends from April through December. The house features unique architectural elements, including two-foot-thick sandstone walls, hand-hewn wood beams, and a rare 'wishbone' chimney.
