Selmun Palace

Selmun Palace, located on the picturesque Selmun Peninsula in Mellieħa, Malta, is an 18th-century villa steeped in history and Baroque architecture. Originally built by the Monte della Redenzione degli Schiavi, the palace served as a retreat for knights of the Order of Saint John and later as a naval hospital during the Maltese rebellion against the French. The villa features a unique square design with decorative pseudo-bastions, reminiscent of military structures, and houses a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Ransom. Once part of the Selmun Palace Hotel, which closed in 2011, the palace is now a Grade 1 national monument awaiting restoration, making it a fascinating site for tourists and researchers interested in Malta's rich heritage.
