Erath Memorial Arch

The Erath Memorial Arch, located in Stephenville, Texas, is a historic two-part stone gate that was constructed in 1936 to commemorate the Texas Centennial. Although it is referred to as an arch, it is not an arch in the traditional sense. Designed by local architect C.V. Head and crafted by rock mason Arthur Maxwell from Dublin, Texas, this unique structure was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2018. Visitors can find it at the intersection of N. Erath Ave. and W. Washington St., making it a notable landmark for both tourists and researchers interested in Texas history.
