Turnu Fortress

Turnu Fortress, located near Turnu Măgurele in Romania, is a medieval stronghold with a rich history dating back to its first documentation in 1394. Originally built to defend Wallachia against Ottoman incursions, it played a significant role during the Battle of Nicopolis in 1396. The fortress changed hands multiple times, falling under Ottoman control in 1417 and becoming a key part of the defensive network along the Danube. It was involved in various military conflicts, including the campaigns of Vlad Ţepeș in the 15th century.
