Whaley House Museum (Old Town)

Built in 1857 by Thomas Whaley on the former site of San Diego’s gallows, the Whaley House is a California Historical Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It operates as a house museum in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. For decades the house has been linked in newspapers, guidebooks, and television programs with reports of unexplained sounds and sightings that local historians and paranormal investigators have documented. Accounts of activity are anecdotal and some aspects are debated by historians.
