Jesuit Pharmacy in Grodno

The Jesuit Pharmacy in Grodno, established between 1700 and 1709, is the oldest pharmacy in present-day Belarus, located in the historic market square. Initially part of the Jesuit Monastery complex, it has a rich history, including its association with the Medical Academy of Grodno, where notable botanist Jean-Emmanuel Gilibert worked. Despite various ownership changes and historical upheavals, the pharmacy operated until 1950. It was revitalized in 1996, now featuring a modern pharmacy alongside a museum showcasing the history of pharmacology in Belarus, including unique exhibits like herbariums and medical instruments from the autopsy of King Stefan Batory. Visitors can explore its beautifully decorated halls and purchase a variety of medicinal products and herbal remedies.
