Paton and Hannah Wilson House

The Paton and Hannah Wilson House, built in 1839, is a historic Greek Revival structure located north of Salem, Iowa. As one of the oldest brick residences in Salem Township, it reflects the early architectural style of the region. Paton Wilson was an influential figure in Iowa's legislative history, advocating for the rights of all people, including citizens of color. His wife, Hannah, was a founding member of the local Quaker community. The house has remained in the hands of the Wilson family descendants until the 21st century and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in Iowa's history.
