Belle Meade Plantation archaeological investigations

Belle Meade Historic Site has been the subject of archaeological investigations that uncovered foundations of 19th-century slave cabins, domestic artifact assemblages, and outbuilding remains. Archaeologists used structural remains and artifacts to reconstruct aspects of plantation layout and the daily lives of the enslaved community. Results from these investigations have been incorporated into the site's interpretation and public programming.
