Cecil Hotel (San Diego)

The Cecil Hotel, opened in 1912, was San Diego's first steel frame structure and the only class A, fireproof building in the city at the time. Located at 1134 Sixth Street, it featured 61 rooms initially, expanding to 75 by 1919. The hotel served as a venue for various events, including the first exhibits of the San Diego Natural History Museum. Over the years, it changed ownership multiple times and was known for hosting notable guests. In 1931, the hotel relocated to a new building on C Street, previously the Hotel Polhemus.
