Denver Press Club

The Denver Press Club, established in 1867 and incorporated in 1877, is the oldest press club in the United States, located at 1330 Glenarm Place, Denver, Colorado. Originally meeting in a grocery store basement, it has hosted notable figures such as Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and William Taft, who received honorary memberships. The club played a significant role during the 1908 National Democratic Convention, serving as the press headquarters. In 1925, members commissioned a dedicated building, which was completed for $50,000. The club features a historic mural painted in 1945 and was designated an Historic Landmark in 1986. Today, it boasts over 400 members from various media professions, including Pulitzer Prize winners, and presents the annual Damon Runyon Award to honor outstanding contributions in journalism.
