Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) and Seattle music legacy

Founded by Paul Allen and opened in 2000 as the Experience Music Project, the MoPOP building at 325 5th Ave N was designed by architect Frank Gehry and has an unconventional form that is widely recognized in the city. The museum houses rotating and permanent exhibits on Seattle's popular-music history, including extensive material on Jimi Hendrix and the grunge movement, making it a focal point of local music lore. MoPOP also hosts exhibitions on science fiction, fantasy, and contemporary pop culture.
